Simple and Digital Laundry Management for Hotel and Camping Guests

WeWash, part of the Bosch Group, offers comprehensive digital solutions for communal washing machines and dryers. WeWash Care is their most widely used service in the hospitality industry: an all-inclusive service that outfits shared laundry rooms with Bosch professional machines and 24/7 monitoring. Additionally, the WeWash Box allows existing machines to be retrofitted and integrated into the digital system. Using the WeWash App or web application, guests can book machines, receive notifications, and pay online.

With Scan2Wash, WeWash takes things a step further, offering an even more user-friendly option. Guests simply scan the QR code in the laundry room and can immediately start booking a machine. There’s no need to create a user account and payment is made easily via digital methods like PayPal, Apple Pay, or credit card. This new solution is especially beneficial for guests who only need to use the laundry service once. For example, short-term guests staying in a hotel or at a campsite.

Successful Pilot Projects: Smooth Integration into Existing Processes

Like many industries, the German hospitality sector is experiencing a labor shortage, with around 50% of companies reporting significant staff shortages causing operational disruptions by the end of 2023. ²

One effective way to ease the burden on existing staff is through the automation and simplification of processes. WeWash understood this by engaging closely with its customers. The simple, cost-free integration of Scan2Wash via posters allows guests instant access to laundry services. Additionally, a direct link to the digital laundry room can be included in guest materials like welcome or check-in emails, enabling guests to access the service without going through the reception.

 

“We tested Scan2Wash during the pilot phase in July at our holiday resort in Butjadingen. All we had to do was put up a poster with the QR code in the laundry rooms, and it was ready to go,” says Marc Voßhall of Regenbogen AG. “This new feature is a real win for our guests. They can quickly and easily do their laundry without having to bother with registration or downloading an app.”

 

Scan2Wash has been successfully tested in a range of pilot projects, including MEININGER Hotels, Brera Serviced Apartments, Black F House, Waldcamping am Großsee, Campingplatz Ostseequelle and Knaus Campingparks. It is now available for WeWash Care laundry rooms across Germany. Roll-out to other countries and WeWash Box laundry rooms is planned.
